Reds land Latos from Padres

The Reds finally got the top-of-the-rotation arm they had been searching for on Saturday, acquiring right-hander Mat Latos from the Padres in exchange for right-hander Edinson Volquez and three of the club's top prospects.

In order to acquire a young starter with the potential of Latos, who went 9-14 with a 3.47 ERA and help opponents to a .233 batting average for the Padres last season, the Reds gave up four young players with similar upside. Along with Volquez, the Reds also sent infielder Yonder Alonso, right-hander Brad Boxberger and catcher Yasmani Grandal to San Diego.


Ok so that means i have Volquez, Alonso, Grandal and one Boxberger cards for trade for anything Latos.

I don't like that trade if I am a Reds fan. I think they gave up to much. What do you think Dennis?

I think they gave up to much for a pitcher who didn't even go 500 last season. I think he was 9-14.

Plus I think he was hurt for part of the season. I think San Diego used him to much two years ago and he hurt his elbow.

That would be right up the Reds alley then for something like that to happen for the. Yonder Alonso was a good player for the Reds but with Votto there and Soto coming up in the minors he will take over at 1st base. I think Cincy should have gotten something else in return though they did save some salary cap $ to try to get a left fielder for the next season.

Giving up Alonso was a bit much for me and i do like scrambled eggs.
